Identifying the most often missing pieces of equipment on transporting vehicles using re-shaped data.
This TechTalk challenge has been designed for you to get more familiar with your states’ EMS reassessment data as well as refresh/review your Micorost Excel skills using Pivot Tables and Reshaped data.
Challenge:
Using the equipment variables in your EMS reassessment data, generate a list of the top 10 pieces of equipment that are most often missing from the BLS and ALS transporting vehicles in your state EMS reassessment data. (HINT – Reshape your data using the Tableau Add-In that was introduced at the Pediatric Readiness Workshops.)
Write down the pieces of equipment using the actual text on the survey and not the variable name (or refer to the data dictionary). What pieces of equipment might be the most important for your program to acquire and distribute to agencies (if funding is available) or to encourage individual agencies to acquire?

- Of these, how many see a high volume and Medium High volume of Pediatric Patients?
- Who are these hospitals?

NEDARC TechTalk- Challenge #3: January 23rd, 2014
Challenge: (Based on a submitted question - it comes in two parts.)
Question 1:
Is having a QI process in a hospital related to weighing and recording in kilos? (Hint: Compare the % of hospitals that weigh and record in kilos depending on whether or not there is a QI process in place. Remember that there are two questions regarding weighing and recording in kilos, it is important to determine what the correct denominator is to answer this question.)Question 2:
What conclusions can be drawn about the relationship between having a QI process and weighing/recording in kilos?

Challenge:
Using the equipment variables, generate a list of the top 10 pieces of equipment that are most often missing from all the low and high volume EDs in your state data. Based on the financial needs of these hospitals, what pieces of equipment might be the most important to encourage them to acquire? HINT – use the variables that start with “AirEquip,” “MonEquip,” and “ResEquip.” Write down the pieces of equipment using the actual text on the survey and not the variable name.
