This TechTalk challenge has been designed for you to get more familiar with your states’ EMS reassessment data as well as refresh/review your Micorost Excel skills using Pivot Tables and Reshaped data.

Challenge:
Using the equipment variables in your EMS reassessment data, generate a list of the top 10 pieces of equipment that are most often missing from the BLS and ALS transporting vehicles in your state EMS reassessment data.  (HINT – Reshape your data using the Tableau Add-In that was introduced at the Pediatric Readiness Workshops.)

Write down the pieces of equipment using the actual text on the survey and not the variable name (or refer to the data dictionary). What pieces of equipment might be the most important for your program to acquire and distribute to agencies (if funding is available) or to encourage individual agencies to acquire?

      Axis Fields: __________________
      Legend Fields: ______________
  2. Using a Pivot Chart, show the relationship between pediatric patient volume and total ED patient volume for the various ED configurations.

    • Why is it not necessarily a good idea to share this chart when using the sum of both of these variables?
    • What might be the best way to summarize this data?
    • If you think Median is the best option what can you do to create an accurate chart?
